My PhD study systematically explores the effects of Carl Jung’s Active Imagination method on the outcomes of coaching interventions. I am interested in supporting practices that help us achieve and maintain self-reliance, self-empowerment, good mental health and joy. Active Imagination is considered to foster creativity and relaxation when used in therapy, and Jung considered his method an effective tool in achieving self-reliance or psychological autonomy; however, the
impact of this method in the coaching context has not been systematically assessed yet.
Carl Jung offered this method -in different forms- to those patients who were doing well, as part of their discharge plan, so the method seems appropriate for non-clinical populations, such as coaching clients.
